The Convention Industry Council (CIC) is a non-profit federation founded in 1949. It is composed of more than 30 leading U.S and international organizations involved in the meetings, conventions and exhibitions industry. The organization has grown that include 33 member organizations that represent more than 103,500 individuals and 19,500 firms and properties of the entire sectors of the industry.

CIC reaches goals by acquiring Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) industry certification program, spearheading the Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) initiative to develop accepted practices for the industry, recognizing pioneers of the industry through the Hall of Leaders program and publishing industry reference materials.
